The Lightning Jumped On The River Rats, 22-3, Look For Series Win Tonight
(Leesburg, Fla.)- The Leesburg Lightning took a 6-0 lead in the first and would never look back, defeating the Sanford River Rats in Game 2 of the FCSL Semifinals Wednesday night, 22-3.
In the 1st, Leesburg would score six runs off of four free passes (both walks and hit by pitches) to take the early advantage, 6-0.
Leesburg would tack on five more in the 3rd, including two coming off an RBI-single from 3B Logan Chapman.
In the 4th, Orlando Pena would strike on a solo blast to left field, followed by three more runs coming across to put Leesburg up 15-0.
However, Sanford would find some momentum in the bottom of the 4th off a two-run shot from Drw Pynes to put Sanford on the board, 15-2.
Jace Trautner would have a solid performance during his four innings of work, only allowing the two run blast and striking out three batters in the win
In the 5th, the Bolts would add five more to the lead, including one off a Jordy Oriach RBI-single to put the team up 20-2, but Robbie Demetree would connect on another homer for Sanford to grab the Rats third run of the game.
In the 6th and 7th, Leesburg would put two more runs on the board and shut the door on Sanford.
For Leesburg, they drew 19 walks on the night, breaking a single game mark set by the team against Sanford on May 31st of this season.
They also put up the 2nd-most runs on the board all-time in a single game, trailing that same May 31st score.
The Bolts will be looking to clinch a spot in their 5th straight FCSL Championship Series by getting past the River Rats tonight. First Pitch is at 7 p.m. for the winner take all showdown.
